Abstract
#SignoXeoClip is an educational project resulting from the collaboration between teachers, researchers and interpreters of Spanish Sign Language. There are two projects previous to the implementation of #SignoXeoClip. Firstly, as part of the doctoral thesis of one of the members of this project, the realization of a small interactive pilot video on scientific concepts in which the presence of a teacher and an interpreter, adapted subtitles, a specific glossary in Spanish Sign Language (hereinafter LSE), hyperlinks, etc. were incorporated. The assessment of the group of deaf students and teachers who had participated in this first project was very positive in all of the aforementioned aspects. Secondly, the teaching material developed by two teachers of Secondary Education, consisting on a series of explanatory videos of Biology and Geology uploaded to the YouTube platform under the name #XeoClip. The confluence of both initiatives led to the incorporation of Spanish Sign Language (LSE) interpretation in the educational videos through the presence of professional interpreters, which is currently called #SignoXeoClip. The goal of the project is to create and disseminate accessible material for deaf, hard of hearing and/or deafblind students, but also contemplating different levels of curricular, communicative and linguistic competence. #SignoXeoclip is a resource that combines explanatory sequences recorded with chroma, with aerial scenes filmed with a drone and in situ with a steadycam. #SignoXeoClip has a didactic potential that can cover the needs of students, teachers and educational interpreters. The article explains the work process carried out by the team, as well as the challenges and difficulties of interpreting science videos in Spanish Sign Language, such as the complexity of the content, the lack of specialized lexicon, the heterogeneity of potential users of the videos and technical constraints, among others.
